New Century PLayers
EXPERIMENTAL AMERICAS 2

The New Century Players continue their exploration of new performance media from throughout the Americas with a program that includes a new piece written for the ensemble by Nick Didkovsky, a New York-based composer whose musical language blurs the distinctions between uptown and downtown, inside and outside, and a new work in alternative tuning by Larry Polansky, dedicated to the late Lou Harrison and William Colvig. The concert also features James Tenney's Septet for six electric guitars and bass; Stephen L. Mosko's theatrical piece Night of the Long Knives; Germán Toro-Perez's Rothko II for wind instruments and interactive computer system; and a work for trumpet and three slide projectors by the legendary Kenneth Gaburo, the late experimental composer and musical thinker, performed by guest artist Tom Dambly. Join the composers for a post-concert talk sponsored by Meet the Composer.
